1/22/10 06:28 pm - So say we all...

I just finished watching Battlestar Galactica. My brain and heart are both a little destroyed. I once told my roommate that the show would break my heart if I stuck with it. Gods, what a journey. WHAT A SHOW.

I am blown away. By every single moment presented to me. Jeez. WHOA.

...sorry, had to get that out. Anyone up for discussing BSG or Caprica(omg it's on tonight!!) for a while?

11/30/09 01:08 pm - Writer's Block: Name that tune

Is there any song you'll never grow tired of hearing? If so, what is it, how long have you loved it, and why?

Hm, lately, it has been the first seven songs off of Ryan Adams' Gold album. I'm seriously in love with his voice. Especially on "When The Stars Go Blue". This song utterly MELTS me. I'll drive to or from work and play it nearly a dozen times. I think I first heard this song in particular about 4 or 5 years ago, on a tv show I can't remember. This song just feels sooo good to listen to and relax to and I wonder if I'll have someone who cares about me the way he sings about. *shrugs* Call me an old romantic :D

11/5/09 08:23 pm - A Pretty Awesome Day Just SNUCK UP On Me...

Yes, it's true.  Today turned out to be pretty frelling cool.  Not only because it was MY ONLY DAY OFF THIS WEEK, either.  Though that didn't hurt in the least. :D

Last night was the hella cool Kelly Clarkson concert.  She was great!  Plus, Eric Hutchison opened for her.  I love him.  I want to marry him and have his super adorable talented babies.

But, back to today, there was lazing about to be had!  I'm still wearing my pj's and it's 8:30 pm. I HAVE showered, though. No worries.  I got on the computer with the single purpose of checking to see if SyFy had finally put the Sanctuary s2e4 podcast up. They hadn't. Boo. I went about my random business and checked back a couple of times this afternoon. Finally, around 4, it was UP. I was saddened slightly to discover that Amanda Tapping and Damien Kindler were not in attendance.  But Martin Wood and Christopher Gauthier were. Cool dudes. Really.

Then I remembered that SyFy was airing 6 episodes of Legend of the Seeker tonight. I can't WAIT until Saturday! Season 2 will be full of greatness, promised by Bridget Regan herself. And who am I to negate such a claim held by BRIDGET FREAKING REGAN?

But, dear and gentle readers, the best part of tonight? NEW EPISODE OF BONES. No more baseball.  YUUUUUUUSSSS.
And, in order to not spoil peoples about the EPICNESS that was Bones, I'll be short and to the point: I have OD'd on ADORABLE tonight.

That is all.  Sorry about the fangirl attack :p

11/1/09 11:55 pm - found [info]lilferret's and thought I'd do it too :D

10/16/09 12:55 am - I has a pretty big sad

I was unnaturally sad today and for the life of me couldn't connect with why. Work wasn't terrible, friends have made me smile today, cute boys made me blush, and there was a beautiful sunset tonight.  But like I said, I still felt sad.

I remembered about an hour ago just why today hurt so much. "Blue Eyes" by Carey Brothers  was playing on my Pandora, which is one of my favorite songs, which reminded me of "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain". A song we played at my dad's memorial. A month ago today.

It's just too surreal to believe. So much has happened since then... but just thinking about that second week in September slows things down to a crawl.  I just feel so confused at how someone can be GONE from your life and still occupy parts of you that sit quietly until they just CAN'T anymore.

The truth is, I feel more pain tonight than I did a month ago, but also a very strange sense of restfulness. So, I guess before I get swallowed up in the sea of a busy life, I just feel like sitting here and REALLY remembering life from way back when, with him.

10/13/09 11:50 pm - *flailspaz*

Season 1 of Legend of the Seeker came out on dvd here in the states today! First thing this morning, before clocking in, was scoping out how many copies we had in the store (2, which is LAME, btw) and stealing it away to the book desk where I could fangirl about it ALL day.

I have a feeling I'll be up till 4am watching it, squeeing quietly so I don't wake anyone. Again. <.<

Also, S2 SyFy commentaries for Sanctuary? EFFING BEAUTIFUL IN SO MANY WAYS. Gah, I love Amanda/Martin/Damien moments. Hi-Larious.

10/9/09 11:32 pm - One step closer, haha! >.>

Hey Amanda fanatics!

Guess who started her twitter yesterday?!?! =0

10/3/09 10:45 pm - Writer's Block: Confessions of a couch potato

What is the longest uninterrupted period of time you've ever watched TV? Were you alone or with a friend/partner? Do you tend to watch more TV when you're happy, depressed, or simply bored?

Haha, so...there have been moments in my life wherein I have wondered "what the hell am I doing here, curled up in my bed, watching ANOTHER season of...?!"

But that has never been enough to get me up and out into the world all by itself.

I think my longest un-interrupted tv-marathon is either my Remington Steele Experience or Farcape-O-Rama.

With Remington Steele, it was mainly the fact that I was upset with some things that had happened and I needed to escape to a place where Pierce Brosnan was suave and hilarious and Stephanie Zimbalist embodied the perfect Modern(80's) Female Role Model (fyi, I still think she's IT). Plus, I was just thrilled to finally have the last season on DVD so I could REALLY watch and understand what was happening. I discovered the show when I was in elementary school, first off. I'm a youngin' lol. I used to watch it and Scarecrow and Mrs King on PAX back in the days!

Farscape. My pretty hardcore obsession last year. I sat and watched all four seasons in less than two months. Between school and work, and crazy relationship status-changes, Farscape became the very best moments I spent at home.

Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE watching stuff with my friends. I CRAVE the feeling you get when you introduce them to something so badass and epic (Stargate, Firefly, X Files, MST3K, Bones, etc). In fact, this coming Wednesday, I will be hosting a Sanctuary-A-Thon with my best friend so he can catch up before the season premier on SyFy. It's going to be Fantabulous. There will be cupcakes involved.

9/27/09 11:35 pm - Writer's Block: Most memorable concert

What was the most memorable concert you ever attended? What made it so magical?

View 1503 Answers

Fleetwood Mac! Oh, they were--kinda still are--my biggest most epically favorite band in the world. Way back when (in 2003, lol) I found out that they'd be in Dallas, TX. Now, I live a couple of hours (um, 6?) away. So I begged my grandma to help me pay for tickets there. The concert was pretty damn impressive. Stevie Nicks is my GODDESS. So awe-inspiring on her stage.

But get this...even before the concert began, I was standing in line at the restrooms...and a Stevie Lookalike was walking out as I was walking in. It was so strange and new and freaking sweet for me (a 16 year-old fangirl XD) that I freaked and told her she was amazing. Haha. Dorky. But she was really nice and even gave me some pictures of Stevie that she'd taken at other concerts she'd gone to. I still have them to this day.

And... a month or two after the Dallas concert, FM announced they'd stop in Lubbock. My hometown. I wouldn't have to roadtrip. Did I go to this one, you wonder? You bet your bippy :p

PS I don't know what a "bippy" actually is. I'm pretty tired lol

9/27/09 09:44 pm - Self-imposed Imsomnia and Other Blatherings

As of late, I've had only two settings: exhausted and super hyper. Or maybe cantankerous and pleasant.

I'm working full-time at an entertainment superstore (Hastings, for any in the west or mid-west States) and I haven't had a day off since last Monday. My next one is this upcoming Wednesday. *groans* It's not supposed to hurt to be a book associate, right? Wrong. I love my job a lot, but with the overhaul my managers have implemented, it's becoming too much to handle. I considered setting the place aflame this morning--going across the street to watch the conflagration consume it all while sipping my pomegranate juice--but I REALLY like the steady income...plus, I'm not so sure I'd get away with it. I'd be too giggly when someone mentioned it. TERRIBLE POKER FACE.

DUDEOHMYGAH.
Um, Sanctuary. I seem to have found myself a new obsession. Rock on. Even less sleep than normal--staying up till 3am watching season 1 and listening to the commentaries after-wards. I have no self-control when it comes to Commentaries. I'm a whore like that XD
My raging girl-crush on Amanda Tapping has indeed grown into something wild and awesome. Much like a rabid badger.

9/14/09 08:52 pm - Writer's Block: My Dream Job

What is your dream job? Do you think you'll ever have it?

Sponsored by Monster

View 998 Answers

My dream job tends to play tag with the rest of my thoughts/passions/decisions in life. What that REALLY means, I have no clue. It just feels that, one day, I'll have such a true and clarifying vision of what it is I would do without any regrets or fear of consequences--be it intensely normal or absurdly strange, (i.e. brainwash EVERY reality show star to pay my way through college <g>), and then go to sleep and wake up thinking a whole NEW way about a whole NEW career.

But I DO have a deep-seated, very well-instilled yearning for a job that allows me to connect with nature. Conservation, biology, research, rescue, etc. From maybe 4th grade up, in a natural science class in Castro Valley, California, I knew that I wanted to do everything I could to be outside, learn all of Nature's curiosities, and damn-well get paid for it!

It feels a bit like I'm constantly playing Wheel of Fortune--only with my intended career, instead of money, mostly--but for the most part, I am comfortable in the knowledge that if I continue to be passionate about science and conserving the world around me, I WILL have my dream job.

10/7/07 06:03 pm - "Were you in the boat when the boat tipped over?"

No, silly! I was in the water!

Icky colds, yucky school project, creepy dudes trying to 'getwitme', and a MIA boyfriend.
That's the past two weeks in a nutshell.

It's gotten better (well, most of it...the boyfriend's not missing anymore, he's in Albequerque...I think)

And now that things are starting to slow down again, I thought it was way past time to update my journal, even though I really have nothing to say or think that doesn't involve sillyness. (i.e.  "'ello, Toast.  Would you like some jelly?")

Ummm, Bones rocks harcore--as usual--nothing to complain about there. "Giddy up!"  "Uh, NEVER say that again" lol
Umm, Stargate Atlantis makes me cry now everytime, no matter what.  *hugs Sparky and never lets go*
Um, Grey's Anatomy is starting to get on my last nerve.  Private Practice may become my reigning show afterall.
Uhhh, listening to new music  and loving it...new Josh Ritter cd, Ingrid Michaelson, Tegan and Sara, etc....(music junky, ok?)

But, yeah...there it is.  Most of it, anyways...still waiting on some sort of bad news to muck up things again.  *negative ninny dance*

Oh, and of course, I've been wanting to dedicate an entry to [info]oparu because she's amazing and I wish I could give her a hug and make things all better!  So...yeah, there's that.  Enjoy.

9/4/07 11:17 am - Driving Blindly Through A Fog of DOOM

No, I'm not trying to be poetic.  It actually happened this morning.  Me.  Wildly guiding my little car through split pea soup.  At 7:26 am.  Class started at 8.

Despite the utter "AAAAHHHHH!!!" of it all, I really like the feeling of not being in control when it comes to weather and nature.  I think a lot of it has to do with living where I do.  There's nothing around for miles most of the time in any direction.  It's lovely.

Which reminds me; yesterday, when I was feeding my goats, a little yellow bi-plane flew straight over head!  It was the loudest thing ever, and I'm pretty sure I may have had a coronary, but it was still pretty amazing.

In YAY! news:  got my best friend addicted to Stargate  (*happy dance!*)
got some more money for food  (now I won't have to eat my boots!)
and bought the Collector's Edition of Serenity for cheap  (SHINY!)

And so that's that for now.  Time for me to go back into hiding now...

8/26/07 08:06 pm - Today's Goal: DON'T DIE!!!!

Well, it's finally here.  It's happening.  I can't stick my fingers in my ears and go "LALALA" anymore...or hide my neck in the dirt like my noble friend the ostrich...

School starts back up again tomorrow.  And while the organized, mentally-competant part of me relishes the chance to thrive in academia once more, there is a whole other side of me straining to get away while I can.  Before all of the responsibilities overwhelm me--

14 hours of class/week + 17/19 hours of work/week = me, cowering in the corner, chewing on a piece of cardboard to stave off the Goat People.

And it will truly be hilarious when I'm in school, trying to focus, and all I can think about is the newest episode of Stargate Atlantis or Bones.  Or Grey's Anatomy or Private Practice.  Or....well, you catch my point.

And to top off all of the crazy-fun-time-maddening-family-oriented news, I just found out my little sister is pregnant.

So.  To keep it all simplified for myself, I've given myself daily goals.  Nothing can be bigger than DON'T DIE, right?

8/17/07 12:07 am - Bowling with the lights out

Cosmic Bowling.  Very loud music.  Very bright disco lights.  Very sweaty people all around.

Um, I would call that the BEST NIGHT EVER.

A great going away present for my Rubber Ducky.  I'll miss him, *pouts*.
